graphic design
With the caveat that I am far from professionally trained… creating marketing and promotional materials for my projects has been a chance to flex my creative muscles for about a decade. Generating promotional photos, text, and collateral for a production often helps me think with more clarity about the visual world of the play that I am attempting to create as a designer.
I served as Resident Designer and Artistic Associate of the Philadelphia Artists’ Collective for six years, during which time I created the logo, designed the website, and produced print and digital content for each production.
When launching Pennsylvania Theatre Institute at West Chester University, I quickly identified a significant challenge in our startup marketing strategy: we had no photos of previous camp participants. I played around with stock photos for awhile, but eventually hit on an idea that would become the brand identity of the camp: creating “doodle” portraits of children and staff members. I loved the challenge of trying to visually depict the warm, welcoming environment our program would foster.
